Asterisk cluster with Kamailio for load balancing.

Hello everyone!

Recently I became interested in concept of putting couple of Asterisks servers in cluster. So I tried to replicate this scenario in testing environment. I was using database back-end for Asterisks settings and statistics and Kamailio as a load balancer.

Obviously it did not worked Image . There is possible to make so many mistakes. Now I'm trying to find some step by step tutorial, but nothing yet.

If someone experienced this, please advice. And if someone have useful links, please share.

Thanks a lot.

MWI Application

I have a group of retail users (no internet no email) that that need to keep an eye on a mailbox and ensure timely response.

Tried:
message forwarding: Doesn't work because the messages are copies. Client doesn't want multiple people responding to the voicemail.

Tried:
Converting the Virtual Extension to a Normal Extention and manually registered the extension on the a line registration key. This almost works perfectly, it sets off the built in MWI, easy to check the voicemail.... except. If you have 2 phones with the same line registration and you leave a message, they both get the MWI light, but if you listen to or delete the message only one of the phones MWI lights go off. In order to turn it off the phone needs to be rebooted.

Tried:
Calling Support. They couldn't think of anything better.

So unless I have an epiphony, or one of you fine gentlemen clue me in, it's app time.

What do you want that isn't supported by default? The phone by default will flash the MWI indicator when there is a messages waiting in mailbox configured for the phone.

Folks,

I am not a developer, but I am thinking of hiring a developer to create a phone application that gives a visual notification when an extension/virtual extension has a new voice mail (MWI). I am posting because I'd like to know if this is possible to with the current API's available.

Running SwitchVox 5.8 and D40/50 phones (v1.4.0.0.57389 FW)

Thank you for any input you are willing to share.

Hey Guys,

I opened my pbx to the net recently and I changed all the default passwords and all to ensure security. I did this in order to be able to make calls away from home on the internet since I travel at times.

These Sip request seem to be random and it tries to connect to a bunch of different extensions and ports

When I trace the IP Address it says the connection is coming from switerland
"Source http://www.ip-adress.com/ip_tracer/46.19.139.174 "

And I'm in the states. I'm going to assume this isn't normal and potentially a security issue and seeing if you can suggest ways to have asterisk or mybe centos block that ip?

What does sip show peers show?

Registered means that it has issued a REGISTER SIP request, and that has been accepted and not expired. Register is used to associate an IP address and port number with a SIP URI when it is not possible to do that statically. It's fairly basic to most SIP configurations.

David55,
I do not really exactly understand what "registered" means. Does it mean that it has not hand shaked with the server? Does it mean that it does not exist?

This device/extension exist and connects to the network fine. In fact I am able to call it internally form my other sip extensions.

What seems to be happening is that I am able to call it sometimes, and not able to call it another times (throws that error).

The device is Cisco SPA112

Could this be some kind of time out thing that might be related to some type of timing setting in Asterisk? I am suspecting that some new settings in 11.7.0 might be messing with the extensions syncing? just speculating.

Cisco`s web interface shows it is registered while Asterisk syas that it is unavail with "Unable to create channel of type 'SIP' (cause 20 - Subscriber absent)

Re-read and implement the seriously best practices document: http://svn.digium.com/svn/asterisk/trun ... ctices.txt (NB, if you are using FreePBX, this is the wrong board, and FreePBX violates at least one of the rules).

Many people use fail2ban to dynamically maintain blocking filters.

Switzerland is a strange country for attacks. Palestine is often quoted, but there are many countries with VoIP phone fraudsters. You will get attacked from many addresses.

iptables is the CentOS feature for implementing IP blocks.

RTPTimeout problem with SendFAX on 11.2+ooh323+spandsp

Hello all. I'm very glad to connect to asterisk community.

Now i trying to deploy new asterisk server in our company and faced with fax-problem on chan_ooh323. This test maded in local environment with quintum tenor DX2060, but i tried with external h323 provider and got the same result.
I tried to change ooh323.conf parameters: directmedia, directrtpsetup, faststart, mediaforconnect, faxtdetect - no result. Bug is stable.

I tried this test on many Asterisk 11 branches and last SVN trunk - in all bulids it not working properly.
In Asterisk 10.9 it working the same, but udp sockets closes properly after RTP-timeout call crash.

Please help me find problem. What i forgot to check ?

When I start SendFAX I get error after ooh323-rtptimeout time if value of this time less than time of fax sending:

There are xpointer= variables in core-en_US.xml that point somewhere. On my Elastix box where my docs are working it seems to be pointing to /usr/share/doc/asterisk-1.8.20.0/. I need to find where that is defined so that I can edit it on my embedded DD-WRT asterisk installation.

I'm trying to clear up an issue where my log files are filled with error messages about missing documentation. I know these messages are little more than nuisances but I'd like to fix the issue.

My documentation folder is at:
Code: /opt/var/lib/asterisk/documentation/core-en_US.xml

and the core-en_US.xml file is present.

What format are the documentation files supposed to be in? I didn't seem to have any so I grabbed everything in the "Asterisk-Admin-Guide" from the tarball and they're all .html. xmldoc.c leads me to believe they're supposed to be .xml files? Maybe I'm way off base.

Thanks for any help!

Need help routing calls with Asterisk

You are using an obsolete version of Asterisk; current versions would reject insecure=very and you would not be able to receive incoming calls. Please indicate which version you are using.

If the Huawei interfaces with SIP, there should be no need to add a proxy. Proxies are normally combined with Asterisk when load balancing is needed.

Also, I would replace the provider_outbound context with provider_inbound.

Need help routing calls with Asterisk

Hi all,

We have following scenario

We connect our asterisk server to a VoIP provider for sending and receiving calls. For this we have 2 sip accounts as below [sip.conf]

[provider_outbound]
type=peer
insecure=very
nat=no
canreinvite=no
username=your_name
secret=your_asterisk_password
host=sbc.provider.com
context=provider_outbound

[provider_inbound]
type=peer
insecure=very
nat=no
canreinvite=no
username=your_name
secret=your_asterisk_password
host=95.xxx.xxx.xxx
context=provider_inbound

in [extensions.conf] we have

exten => _NXXNXXXXXX,1,Dial(SIP/provider/00xxxxx${EXTEN})

by using this we are able to send receive calls using a simple sip phone with locally registered sip account.

Now we want to connect a mobile operators soft switch (Huawei MSOFTX3000V1R08C03) so that I can use our asterisk for dialing and receiving calls via same provider.

I have heard some people said to use OpenSER for this purpose. Need suggestion from you guys if I can use Asterisk simply or have to integrate OpenSER with Asterisk.

Cheers,
Nasir

Dialogic with Asterisk: Any updates?

You need to ask to the Dialogic company not to the asterisk community.

Dialogic with Asterisk: Any updates?

The last time I checked, there was little support for using Dialogic cards with Asterisk, and what there is seems to be aimed at the Diva series (hideously expensive for some of us).

Has this situation changed at all? Specifically, for the JCT-series cards? (Such as the D/41JCT, D/120JCT and the D/240-T1 boards).

Thanks much.

Security and Hardening question

$

So in order to make my server more secure, I keep it behind a pfSense appliance. I use IP filtering to reduce my online availability to only our remote office locations (all in NYC). I get this impending feeling people will want to access the server via their cell phones and check voicemail via the portal offsite. So I was thinking of some kind of reverse proxy with an authentication and a token as opposed a VPN which just is not practical with the variety of devices people use. What are other people doing? Does anyone have a similar situation? What should I google?
